The Freshman Marketing Contest of MBA Education Center Su​ccessfully Completed

On September 13, 2015, the MBA Education Center of School of Business, GDUFS, organized the freshmen of 2015 grade to carry out a wonderful live marketing contest in front of the second canteen. President Zhong Weihe of GDUFS, Secretary of the Party Committee Xu Zhichao of School of Business, Executive Dean Zhu Wenzhong, Vice Dean Yuan Denghua, and Director Wang Gang of the MBA Education Center, came to visit and guide.

The marketing contest simulated the real commercial operation, which went through a series of process, including writing marketing plan, site auction, site decoration, procurement, storage and sales of the commodity, profit settlement, and summary of activities. Besides, innovative mobile internet thinking and marketing method, including preheating with new media before the contest and interactive promotion with enterprises, were also utilized. The activity was full of goods, with a higher profit and larger scale than previous contests. During the contest, the booth was set up in the South Campus for the first time, among which, the profits of the fourth group amounted to 4,714 yuan, twice over the 1000 yuan of the last year.

The marketing contest has a far-reaching influence and profound significance. In the whole process, it can be found that the 2015 grade students not only used the traditional business combination among enterprises (the fourth group obtained sponsorship from three enterprises), which effectively promoted the objective and philosophy of MBA of GDUFS; became more familiar with the campus and classmates, which helped them further integrate into the campus life; but also tested their ideas through the market, which was especially important for them as the students of School of Business. The profits of the contest were deposited in the SMILE Fund to support public welfare.

Vice Dean Yuan Denghua of School of Business said, the SMILE value (Social responsibility, Mutual respect, Integrity, Learning by doing, Enthusiasm) of MBA of GDUFS, which means establishing a value of integrity and respect in business activities, can be obtained not only in the classroom, but also through the practice. From this contest, students can not only have a deeper understanding of theoretical knowledge from the practice, but also facilitate undergraduate students. At the same time, the profits would be used for public welfare. While during the preparatory process, the development of the whole package, including products, target customers, procurement of goods, inventory and promotion strategies, were all a reflection of MBA’s objective of “learning by doing”.
