Left-behind children are special groups of children whose parents go out to work for a living and spend little time in child rearing. They stay at home in the countryside not only suffering the lonely, but also taking care of the obligations of the elders. Their shoulders are too tender to bear the helpless life. .
Left-behind Children in Dukeng Primary School
Since 2011, GDUFS MBA has been associated with such a group of left-behind children who live in Village Dukeng. Village Dukeng, located in the southernmost remote mountainous area of National Poverty County, Wuhua County, Meizhou city, is an old revolutionary base where poor families, low-income families and poverty-stricken families are concentrated. More than 150 pupils in Dukeng Primary School are left behind children.
With the consistent efforts in seven consecutive years, GDUFS MBA helped them to study in a better environment by upgrading the facilities in Dukeng Primary School, including rebuilding toilets, installing windows, power, lights, fans, and desks that are suitable for their height.
Smiling Home
GDUFS MBA cooperated with Meizhou Telecom to connect the fixed line telephone and the broadband access to the school for these children calling or videoing with their parents who work outside. What’s more, it helped the school build a cement playground and repaired flagpole. So every Monday, children can participate in the flag raising ceremony and sing the national anthem.

GDUFS MBA students donated more than 700 books suitable for pupils. Those who have witnessed the tough conditions that left-behind children live in tried to enrich children’s extracurricular activities by donating table tennis table, checkers, military chess, chess, rope skipping
It is not only these hardware conditions that matter, but the improvement of the mental outlook of the children. In order to achieve better resultes, GDUFS MBA students volunteer to visit those children and exchanged with their temporary guardians, school teachers, and even shared the caring topics of left behind children with the mayor of town Longcun and the principal of Central Primary School every summer vacation, winter vacation and International Children's Day. It is also provided a week of training for all primary English teachers of the town.
