Representatives of Arizona State University Visit GDUFS Business School

On the afternoon of June 17th , a delegation led by Ajay Vinze, Vice Provost of Arizona State University, and Eric Wertheimer, Vice Dean ASU Graduate College visited GBS. Wu Junfeng, head of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of GBUSF, Zhu Wenzhong, Executive Dean of GSB held a meeting with the delegation. Also present at the meeting were Ding Hao, Director of the Department of Business Administration, Zhou Ning, Director of International Affairs of GBS, Miao Xueling, representative of GSB faculty, and Liang Yan, Supervisor of International Affairs of GSB.

Zhu Wenzhong first extended welcome to Ajay Vinze and Eric Wertheimer. And then he briefed the delegation on the development of GSB, the research orientations of its four departments, and its international exchange programs. Zhu Wenzhong also reviewed the achievements of the bachelor-master “3+2” program collaborated with ASU.

Dr. Ajay Vinze shared experience and breakthroughs by ASU in terms of getting international certifications, innovation of teaching approaches, curriculum improvement, and flipped class mode. He noted that ASU would like to offer guidance to and carry out cooperation with GSB in the above matters. He appreciated the introduction by Dean Zhu, and hoped that GSB can highlight the points and specific research interests of the collaboration with ASU W. P. Carey School of Business. He expressed hope that teachers from both sides can exchange CV as soon as possible, and that their collaboration of co-writing research papers, study cases, and holding seminars can be carried out soon. He noted finally that ASU would like to continue the “3+2” international innovation class for business administration program collaborated with GSB in the coming years. He hoped both sides can carry out in-depth exchanges and cooperation in all-around way in years to come.

Ding Hao briefed the delegation on the faculty and the students of the innovation class. Miao Xueling explored with Ajay Vinze the approaches American universities adopt to categorizing the curriculum and to developing students’ critical thinking.

Both sides reached consensus to expanding the enrollment of bachelor-master “3+2” program, carrying out collaboration between teachers from the two sides and exchanges of faculties and students.
