SMILE NIGHT and Appointment Ceremony of Industry Mentors is Successfully Held

On January 5, 2020, the SMILE NIGHT and appointment ceremony of industry mentors of MBA, GDUFS was successfully held in the lecture hall of No.6 Teaching Building. Prof. JIAO Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS, leaders of the School of Business, all faculty members of the MBA Education Center, teachers of MBA program, the representatives of the South China MBA Alliance, and representatives from sister colleges attended the grand meeting together with more than 200 MBA students and alumni. Elites from various industries were hired as industry mentors in this grand event, which marks the beginning of a dual-mentor system with academic mentors and industry mentors working together to build a strong teaching system and better support the students’ personal and career development.

After the opening performance, Prof. ZHU Wenzhong, Dean of the SOB, delivered a speech. He said that GDUFS MBA has always practiced the values of SMILE: Social Responsibility, Mutual Respect, Integrity, Learning by Doing, and Entrepreneurship. With the strong support of school leaders and society, GDUFS MBA passed the AMBA accreditation and re-accreditation. The achievements in the past few years are inseparable from the unremitting efforts of the leadership, the faculty members and students. The implementation of the dual-mentor system will inject more vitality into GDUFS MBA education, and GDUFS MBA will surely become stronger and better with the support of people from various industries.

Director WANG Gang of the MBA Education Center launched an initiative for the "One Book, One Dream" charity program supported by the SMILE Fund. He introduced the series of charity activities applying the SMLIE Fund by the MBA Education Center and hoped that more people will participate in this charity cause so that more primary and middle school students in poor areas will develop the habit of reading.

Next, Prof. JIAO Fangtai issued appointment certificates to more than 30 industry mentors present. Mr. XU Xiaoliang gave a speech on behalf of all industry mentors, in which he expressed his gratitude for the trust given by GDUFS and said that he would do his best to contribute to the university.

In addition, outstanding alumni HONG Peibin, CHEN Xun, and ZHANG You donated a set of exquisite souvenirs to the School of Business, and Prof. ZHU Wenzhong accepted it on behalf of the school. Mr. XU Jianjun, Vice President of GDUFS MBA Alumni Association, spoke on behalf of MBA alumni. He mentioned that although he has graduated and left the campus for many years, he still bears in mind the value of “SMILE” and continues to practice it personally. The alumni will spare no effort to support the development and growth of GDUFS MBA.

At the evening party, MBA students presented the audience with wonderful programs written, directed, and performed by themselves, including martial arts performances Chinese Kungfu, jazz dance See You Again, cheongsam show Qikai Desheng, and duet dance At That Time. The party ended in the chorus of Guangwai Welcomes You.
