On December 4th, Dr. William Brashears, director of international education at the Arizona State University, visited the MBA Education Center of the School of Business and conducted an in-depth discussion with MBA students on the intercultural communication in today 's global business. The lecture was presided over by Liang Jie, vice president of the School of Business.

With the recent hot “US election” as a primer,William shared with the students how they feel about the United States and their understanding of the American dream and American culture. The students spoke enthusiastically and put forward their own opinions. The scene atmosphere was very lively. William believed that today, under the tide of globalization, people from different countries want to become active talents to adapt to this tide, and for China, globalization is a rare and precious opportunity for development. In order to let the students have a better understanding of intercultural communication, Dr. William also invited an entourage to share with the students her learning experience when from emigrating to the United States from China and how she gradually integrated into American society and culture. William also emphasized that culture can not be ignored in the process of globalization, and the correct understanding of different cultures was an indispensable part of marketing. He mentioned that 1960s was an important node of globalization. He made an comparison of his hippie dress and few women receiving college education in 1960s with the current situation to indicate that the times were changing, civil rights continued to get improved and the United States began to change as a free society. China, after years of development, is now an important force in globalization.

Global business has many benefits, which can meet the diverse needs of people, but it also inevitably brings some problems. When William talked about the impact  of Trump's election on China, some students raised their concerns. Some people worried that Trump's election would increase the barriers to trade between China and the United States, affecting the development of domestic import and export trading company, some people doubted that whether this would make the d the currency depreciation, and some students also asked questions that whether this would make a large number of factory production return to the United States.

William gave detailed answers to the students’ questions. He stressed the need for good cultural integration, and encouraged students not only to have an in-depth understanding of American culture, but also to take the initiative to learn other cultures, because different cultures are equally important in global business. After this lecture, I believe that the students have understood the importance of intercultural communication. we must pay more attention to different cultures around the world in the next study.
