On the afternoon of May 7, the MBA Education Center of the School of Business was honored to invite Wu Jiangping, chief strategy officer, business model architect and chief product officer of Whuma Company, to give a lecture about new management techniques and ways of thinking under the Internet+ era. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Yuan Denghua. Before the lecture, Zhu Wenzhong, dean of School of Business, issued a letter of appointment for Mr. Wu Jiangping as a visiting professor of School of Business.

First of all, Wu Jiangping pointed out three questions: where does the management embody? What is the purpose of management? What is the essence of management? With these three questions, he systematically guided the students to explore the answer to the question step by step. After enthusiastic interaction, he summed up that the purpose of business management is to improve staffs’ performance and organization performance, and the essence of management is the effective ways that managers of organizations apply to organization management. Then, he analyzed the factors that affect performance and pointed out new management techniques and ways of thinking under the Internet+ era. He guided students to think about the steps and shortcomings of management practices in the past and compare old management practices with new management practices. He introduced in detail the new management practices when recruiting the right staff---establishing a standardized behavior model for the job, conducting a questionnaire analysis of the candidates and comparing the candidate-related data with the job behavior standardized model. Wu Jiangping evaluated this kind of new management practice as follow: “If the standardized model can be applied to one hundred or even one thousand people, it can absolutely shorten the time, improve efficiency and achieve accurate recruitment.” In addition, he also took how to effectively motivate the team as an example, comparing the past management practices with new management practices to show the high efficiency and objectivity of standardization model.

In Q & A section, the students asked Wu Jiangping some questions about team communication, crowd characteristics management, enterprise talent management, internal training management, business counterpart management and so on. He used some convincing real cases to answer the questions of the students. He also shared eight words of how to be an executive---“fulfill (promise), undertake (mission), share (resource) and accumulate (experience)” to help students develop their career.

Finally, Wu Jiangping said that this is a lecture with professional interaction and sharing, hope that students learned not only professional knowledge of management from the lectures, but also a new way of thinking brought from the Internet+ era.
