Representatives from University of Ulsan Visit the MBA Education Center of GDUFS

On March 20, 2019, Koo, Bong-Jae, Director of the International Affairs Office, University of Ulsan, South Korea and Guo Zhen, Head of Asian Affairs, International Affairs Officers visited the MBA Center, GDUFS. Dean of School of Business of GDUFS Zhu Wenzhong, VIce Dean of SOB Xu Yiqing, Director of the MBA Education Center Wang Gang, Officer of School of Business Liao Xiaojun and Officer of MBA Center Yu Qianqian received them in Meeting Room 402 in MBA Education Center. 

    

Both Sides discussing cooperation 

At first, Xu Yiqing expressed a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the running history, settings of major, research and international development of SOB and MBA Education Center. She mentioned that SOB, GDUFS was accreditated by AMBA in 2015. In 2018, SOB was reaccreditated by AMBA and obtained AACSB membership. At present, SOB was proactively preparing for the accreditation of CAMEA. Xu noted that SOB laid great emphasis on the MBA programs and the school was also organizing a South Korean study tour headed by the Director of MBA Center.

 

Then, Koo Bong-Jae briefed relevant information about University of Ulsan, focusing on the MBA program that the both sides were about to carry out. Guo Zhen noted that most of the students in the MBA program of University of Ulsan were corporate executives from the On-job Class while the full-time MBA program was for the international students. He also mentioned that both sides could carry out a cooperation over the MAB program flexibly.

On behalf of SOB, Zhu Wenzhong held an in-depth discussion with Koo Bong-Jae and other representatives on the curricula, scholarships and setups of MBA, DBA, Double-Degree, International Exchange Student and Study Tour programs. At last, Xu Yiqing expressed her willingness to deepen cooperation with University of Ulsan.

The headquarters of University of Ulsan (English: University of Ulsan; Korean: 울산대학교; Chinese: 蔚山大学校) is located in Ulsan, the primary industrial city in South Korea. It is comprehensive and world-famous. It is a private university, founded in 1970 by Hyundai, South Korea's largest consortium.

University of Ulsan has carried out the plan of Constructing World-Class Disciplines since 2006. By now, 4 disciplines have been selected, including Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, to strive for world-class disciplines. Meanwhile, University of Ulsan is also a member of BK21 Project” by the government of South Korea (similar to Project 985 in China)

The Ministry of Education of South Korea has invested 8 billion won (about 140 million yuan) for seven consecutive years to Unicersity of Ulsan since 2013, striving for constructing it into a world-class university. Estimated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) of South Korea, University of Ulsan has been listed as the University of the Highest Employment Rate in South Korea for five consecutive years. According to a comprehensive comment by “JoongAng Ilbo”, University of Ulsan has been listed the top 20 universities in South Korea for ten consecutive years. According to the evaluation on universities by “The Chosun Ilbo”, it ranks top among the local universities in South Korea. In the QS University Rankings, it ranks 501th in the world and 17th in South Korea in 2019. In the USnews, it ranks 587th in the world and 12th in South Korea in 2019.
