Experts Contributing to the Revision of MBA Program Curriculum and the Upgradation of Business Education

On the afternoon of July 4, 2019, School of Business (SOB) held a revision seminar of MBA Program Curriculum in MBA402. Professor HE Chuantian, Vice President of GDUFS and Director of the Steering Committee on the Teaching of MBA, Professor CHEN Song, Deputy Party Secretary of Tongji SEM, WANG Yuanhuai, Director of EMBA Center, Sun-Yat Sen Business School, WANG Jinhong, Senior Chairman of Beiming Software, HE Jianjun, Director of South China MBA Alliance, ZHU Wenzhong, Dean of SOB, WEI Chuanwen, Party Secretary of SOB, and YUAN Denghua, DING hao, XU Yiqing ,Vice Deans of SOB, and members from the Steering Committee on the Teaching of MBA attended the seminar. The seminar was presided by XU Yiqing.

He Chuantian first warmly welcomed the experts and entrepreneurs. He mentioned that the development of MBA Center, GDUFS, adheres to its characteristics. In recent years, it has gradually improved in terms of the number of students, the quality of students and the influence of its brand. But compared to the first-class MBA programs in China, MBA Center of GDUFS still needs improvements. He hoped that at this revision seminar on MBA program curriculum, the participating experts and entrepreneurs will provide constructive guidance for MBA Center, GDUFS, to ensure that MBA programs of GDUFS can keep up with the latest trends in business education and the market.

The conference had heated discussion on such aspects as the credits of compulsory courses and elective courses, course modules, development of new courses, cultivating of the foreign language proficiency and other key points. Some experts pointed out that the series of lectures on economic development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area should be introduced under the existing lectures of Belt and Road Initiative. Some experts pointed out that the development of artificial intelligence and 5G technology is bound to have a huge impact on business education, making it necessary to launch related new courses. In addition, experts also proposed that considering GDUFS is involved in foreign affairs, MBA Center can organize its teachers and students to provide company consulting projects for countries along the Belt and Road. The participants also discussed deeply on how to improve students leadership, learning ability and innovation ability, theoretical literacy and practical ability.

After the meeting, based on the opinions and key points reached at the seminar, SOB further revised the MBA Program Curriculum to create tailor-made solutions for international management talents that are more in line with the new era and new development opportunities, by combining with the Implementation Plan of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies University Graduates Quality Improvement Work, and Implementation Plan of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies to Promote Education Action Plan under the Belt and Road Initiative and others.
