Speaker Profile:

FU Lang, born in February 1956 in Linchuan, Jiangxi Province, graduated with a major in human geography as a Doctor of Science. From 1983 to 1985, he served for China State Construction Engineering Corporation as a project manager in Jordan. In 1986, he worked for Foreign Affairs Office of People’s Government of Guangdong Province. From 1994 to 1999, he worked as the Director of Division of Consular Affairs and Director of Service Office for Foreign Establishments in Guangdong Province in Foreign Affairs Office of People’s Government of Guangdong Province. From 1999 to 2007, he was Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of People’s Government of Guangdong Province and Vice President of Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. He went to University of Hawaii for advanced studies from 2001 to 2002. From 2007 to 2016, he served as Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office and President of Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. In 2009, he studied at John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He was a member of Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPPCC, Executive Vice President of Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association, and Deputy Director General of Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs Committee of Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPPCC. Since 2018, he has worked as Executive Vice President of Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association and Visiting Professor of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Jinan University, Guangdong University of Finance & Economics, and Party School of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPC.

Lecture Outline:

As an expert in the diplomatic circle, Mr. FU holds unique insights into the characteristics of the international situation and hot issues. This lecture expands international horizons and promotes cultural exchanges through the interpretation of the diverse cultures of countries around the world. The spirit of dedication and persistence is also emphasized.

In the lecture, Mr. FU will share his 34-year experience of crafts collection, photography, studies on humanities and culture, and diplomatic affairs, thereby showing teachers and students in SOB around more than 120 countries he has traveled.

Mr. FU is interested in the collection of handicrafts. Through the research on the collections, one can explore the culture and appreciate the profoundness of human civilization; one can understand the tradition and grasp the development of the national spirit; one can savor the history and read stories and details that are not available in historical records.

In this lecture, Mr. FU will focus on the humanistic spirit contained in the handicrafts of African countries. His craft collections with African characteristics will be displayed to broaden the listeners’ horizons.
