Professor Ruet discussed the development of China since the western aggression in 1840. He showed a deep understanding of Chinese history and its present situation. In the first part, he proposed four pieces of advice for Chinese government, regional administrations, large enterprises, and SMEs. According to Professor Ruet, Chinese government should facilitate the business of foreign companies in China because the advanced technology and innovation capacity of the foreign countries can be transferred through cooperation. As for entrepreneurs, business needs complex thinking rather than simple ideas. Taking product development as an example, the process should include innovation, then pilot programs and finally mass production. For business model, however, simplicity is the best. Chinese, particularly Guangdong province impresses the world with its simple but timely changing business model.

In the second part, Professor Ruel analyzed the capitalism of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries from two perspectives, cooperation potential and government policy. He held that the success of BRI can only be realized by recognizing the diversity among BRI countries. He exemplified his idea with three cases, India, Ethiopia and the European Union. All three regions demonstrates a dynamic economy, huge market potential and welcoming environment. China is now an innovative country with strong capital strength. Despite its tension with the United States, China can form partnerships with these regions for win-win cooperation in the future.
