Representatives from the University of Missouri Visit Our School

On May 25, 2018, Ms. Gay Albright, Director of International Relations in College of Business and Professor Zou Shaoming, and other representatives from University of Missouri visited our university. Vice Dean of School of Business  Liang Jie and Qiu Weinian, Zhang Hongming, Director of Marketing Department, Assistant Director Qiu Aimei and MBA Center teacher Yu Qianqian gave them a warm reception in Conference Room 308 of the MBA Center in North Campus of GDUFS.

 

First, Liang Jie extended a warm welcome to the visitors. Liang Jie and Qiu Weinian then reviewed the history of bilateral cooperation, expressed that GDUFS enjoys characteristic of “foreign languages+ foreign trade” and the School of Business passed AMBA recertification just a few days ago, and introduced other international characteristics. It was recommended that in addition to continuing to expand cooperation with MBA projects, the two schools can also carry out some other substantive cooperation in depth. For example, focusing on marketing major, they can harness the strengths of the University of Missouri to make full use of the resources of both sides so that they would make wider cooperation, establish joint training projects, exchange students and teachers, and engage in scientific research cooperation.

 Ms. Gay Albright and professor Zou Shaoming introduced the University of Missouri through fine videos and PPT: It is also home to School of Medicine, College of Education, School of Law, and so on with its various majors. Working with other institutions around the world for 20 years, it has been dedicated to finding opportunities for students to the world. The MBA program includes crosby MBA and exec MBA, and offers many students scholarship. Besides, the University of Missouri offers online education with rich content, which plays the leading role in the United States.

Both schools boast distinctive international characteristics. In the negotiation, the two sides thoroughly discussed the possibility and feasibility on cooperation in short-term study, joint enterprise case competition, joint training and diplom projects, and reached consensus on starting cooperation as soon as possible.

The University of Missouri, short for Mizzou, was founded in 1839  in Columbia, Missouri as the first institution of higher education in west of the Mississippi River. and has now developed into the famous Missouri University system in the United States which also has campuses in Kansas City,Rolla, and St. Louis. It is home to 63,000 students, offering over 265 degree programs. Mizzou has a reputation of excellence in academic achievements. In 1885, Mizzou founded the first Department of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science in the United States, and had the first School of Journalism in the world. In US, the media has huge supervision power, so it is also called the Invisible Fourth Power (because of separation of powers, media is often known as the Fourth Power), which to some extent gave birth to the schools political alumni. Therefore, the School of Public Affairs created by President Truman is famous throughout the United States with more than 1/3 members of Congress and government staff graduating from the university in Columbia. From 2009 to 2014, more than 40 students from SOB of GDUFS participated in the summer study program.
