Professor and executive dean Andrew Griffiths-from School of Business, Economics and Law of The University of Queensland came to visit the School of Business

        Guests from The University of Queensland Australia including executive dean of Business, Economics and Law-professor Andrew Griffiths, head of School of Business-professor Julie Cogin, senior manager Brendon Lutwyche from Division of International Relations of School of Business, Economics and Law and Michael Chen came to the School of Business. The dean Zhu Wenzhong, the associate dean Liang Jie from School of Business and director An Fansuo from School of Human Resource Management and teacher Guan Pianpian attended the meeting. The two sides from UQ and GDUFS made a series of discussions about the existing cooperation and plans in the future.

Zhu Wenzhong extended warm welcome to the guests and introduced the history, some basic information about the subject setting and students’ number of School of Business. Then, he focused on the work achievements, work priorities, such as the setting of new majors for both graduates and postgraduates, the direction of scientific research project, accreditation works with AMBA re-accreditation, EPAS accreditation, AACBS accreditation and CAMEA accreditation included, and the latest news of research center, like Center for Latin America Studies. Later, he mentioned that the School of Business takes “cultivate high-quality business talents” as its mission and holds the development vision as “building the first-class business school with distinct characteristics”. He also explained the value of “SMILE” to the guests and expounded how this value is put into the practice of teaching and scientific research activities. He stressed that the business school values international communication and the faculties do a lot of work in this aspect. In the end, he indicated that based on the existing cooperation, we should make most of the resources advantages of two sides to strengthen cooperative training programs, academic exchanges and cooperation on scientific researches and further advance academic and cultural exchanges between two sides.

Professor Andrew expressed sincere gratitude to us. He introduced us the new institution settings, staff affairs, scientific development and education projects of the School of Business, Economics and Law following the introduction of the newly inaugurated dean. Later, he expressed that as China’s become increasingly influential, he expects the two sides can establish long-term and stable cooperation, especially strengthening the cooperation in scientific research that closely related to the development of international community. In respect of resources sharing, the two sides discussed how to make better use of the resources from sister colleges and universities. For instance, resources of the Center for Latin America Studies can be shared with other Latin American sister universities of UQ. After that, professor Cogin introduced the latest subject settings, popular majors, curriculum provisions and teaching programs of the School of Business. She mentioned that UQ lays much emphasis on internationalization in teaching programs. Not only do they pay attention to the cultivation of students’ international awareness and international skills but also attract and cultivate international students by offering them first-rate service and quality teaching activities. She expressed high expectation of deepening cooperation between two sides.

During this visit, the faculties of UQ and faculties of GDUFS made in-depth and efficient discussions in terms of staff exchanges, cooperation of scientific research, curriculum sharing and international cooperation, which provide guidance for implementing these plans in the future. On the same day, Zhun Wenzhong participated in a series of activities on UQ Day at GDUFS, accompanied secretary of the party committee and president Sui Guangjun to welcome and receive guests from UQ and delivered speeches on behalf of the teaching faculties.
