On January 2nd, 40 students from the MBA program of Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME) arrived at the MBA Education Center to start a 12-day study tour. As a renowned Indian institute, XIME has established a long-term partnership with the SOB to promote academic cooperation and cultural exchanges. Liang Jie, Associate Dean of SOB and Yu Qianqian, Head of the Student Affairs Division warmly received them.
The study tour lasted for 12 days, including events such as lectures, visiting of enterprises and landmark tourist attractions, and interactive activities between students. The lecture given by Zhu Wenzhong, Dean of SOB, which was titled “Globalization and Corporate Social Responsibility” marked the opening. Before the lecture, Dean gave a welcome speech and introduced relevant theories concerning the lecture, then he cited excellent examples to explain them, from which the students learned a lot. Later, they attended five lectures in succession, namely “Chinese Trade Routes” by Associate Professor Zeng Yuran, “Economic Trend of Guangzhou” by Professor Li Yongning, “E-Commerce” by Associate Professor Qiu Xinying, “Economy, Culture and Tourism in Chile” by Sergio Ălvarez Illesca, a Chilean scholar, and “Chinese Enterprises and Go Global Strategy” by Professor Wu Yiming. All these courses were an important part of this study tour, and the teaching and guidance of professors provided students from XIME with valuable insights. Beyond that, the MBA Education Center arranged them to participate in the China-Latin American Cooperation and Development Forum - New Environment and New Trends, to enable them to embrace the internationalization of the MBA program at GDUFS.
During the study tour, Professor Wu and Yu Qianqian showed students around three well-known enterprises: INTERAFRICA EXPRESS, Yinghao Technology, and Zhujiang Brewery Group. All companies gave them warm reception and arranged staff to introduce their company features and history. Students were showed around each enterprise, and asked questions in the Q&A session. As the companies vary in styles and business domains, they learned a lot in the visits and enjoyed the whole trip.
This winter study tour was also a cultural exploration. During the trip, volunteers of MBA Education Center also organized sightseeing for these guests. They visited the Guangzhou Museum, Shameen, Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, Beijing Road, Canton Tower and the Pearl River, to name just a few. Guangzhou, a metropolis mixing traditions with modernity left them with deep impression. Apart from that, the center held networking activities for MBA students of the two countries, staging a wonderful cultural show with paper cutting and Indian dance as highlights.
At the end, on January 13th, all students were awarded a certificate of completion by Liang Jie, Associate Dean of SOB, at Room 103. She congratulated on successful completion of the study tour and expressed good wishes of continued cooperation between the two schools.
