publisher:Eventscreatetime: 2015-12-05

On the evening of May 23, hosted by GSB and organized by MBA Association of GSB, Career Development, the forth session of the Public Lectures on Career was held in Room 103, No.9 Building. The lecturer Cheng Xiangyu, who was a student of the Class of 2012 of GSB, shared valuable advice on job-hunting and his own work experience with the audience. He now is Director of Human Resources of the Guangzhou-based Youmi Mobile Information and Technology Service Co..

Talking about the common problem of the resumes of fresh graduates, he said that many of the candidates wrote too many irrelevant honors and awards, boasting too much of their personal information.

He suggested that when completing CVs, the applicants should write in a chronological order, list their working experience and highlight the important content. Besides, the job hunters should bear it in mind that one page or two pages is better when creating their CVs.

Before interviews, the candidates must know the relevant information about the position they apply for. They should show their humble and dependable side during interviews. They should follow their hearts when choosing a company or negotiating with a company. Large companies may not be better than small ones. In the first two years of career, they should show persistence, tempering will and controlling emotions, no matter how badly they want to leave. Cheng suggested that the students should pay more attention to those with great potential and good environment. Career development is much more important than salaries and positions. Interest also matters.

During the interactive session, Cheng held a mock interview for the audience. He pointed out the problems of the “interviewees” one by one and offered corresponding advice.
