On the afternoon of October 15th, the 32nd MBA Forum was held in the northern Libruary Lecture Hall. XIONG
Shaohui, the president of Guangdong Zhenrong Energy Co., Ltd and the
founder of Guangmaoyuan Martial Art Association of our university, gave a
splendid lecture on “characters of an enterprise —— be an entrepreneur
with soul” Vice President LIU Jianda, Executive Dean of MBA Center SUN
Jianjun, secretary-general of alumni organization XIE Weiguang, Deputy
Dean of economy and trade institution LIN Jishuang and MBA faculty and
student representatives attended the lecture.
At
the beginning, Mr. Sun gave a warm welcome to Prof. Xiong and
appreciated his time for this lecture. He said that Prof. Xiong is a
person full of passion and responsibility who has read through all kinds
of classical books. Talking with Mr. Xiong is like a baptism of the
soul.
First
of all, Prof. Xiong explained the concept of “company” which in Chinese
is Gongsi. Gong represents the staff and Si means management. Gongsi
together means an organization which creates fortunes and revenue,
provides job opportunities through the management of the staff. Speaking
of the characters of a company, it is the characteristics that are
shown during its operation and management. The characteristics include
five elements: feelings, mission, distribution, assumption and
sacrifice.
When
Prof. Xiong explained the five elements mentioned above, he pointed out
that the feelings of a company was pretty much like “everyone is
responsible for the fate of his country”, a traditional Chinese idea.
Nowadays, it could be also translated to “All power of the country
belongs to the people”. With this kind of feelings, a company can own
the mainstream values. The missions of a company are creating fortunes,
revenue and job opportunities. Violating them is like committing the
crime. At present, many companies violate the business ethics and even
the law. China
now is in badly needs of entrepreneurs with a sense of mission.
Distribution requires being fair to the interior and mutually beneficial
to the external. Assumption means making contributions to the society,
which means bravely taking on the development of the society, the tears
or blood of the staff, success or failure of the company and even the
possibly upcoming disaster. Sacrifice doesn’t lead to the end, but
implies the fight for the future of the company and corporate interest
comes first.
Since
Guangdong Zhenrong Energy Co., Ltd was founded, its market value has
risen to more than 30 billion yuan although the starting fund was only
300 million yuan. This achievement is made by the hard-working and
hard-fighting staff despite of all kinds of difficulties. Prof. Xiong
added that, the character of the leader is closely bound to that of a
company, which indicates that an entrepreneur should
do high-profile
work and be a low-profile, honest, broad-minded, diligent and
responsible person.
At
last, Mr. Xiong answered the questions about the relationship between
martial art and characters, personal charm and the systems of the
enterprise, the core competitiveness of the enterprise, spirits culture
and charity. His passionate lecture and lively body language won
applause.
