On April 18th,
upon Guangwai MBA center"s invitation, Mr. Liao Jibin, an advisor of
MBA Career Development Forum and South China Regional Director of
Manpower Inc., delivered a lecture-" Professional Competitiveness of MBA in a Headhunter’s Eyes". The lecture was held in Guangcheng Lecture Hall, presided over by Xu Yiqing, Office Director of MBA Center.
Mr. Liao analyzed professional competitiveness of MBA students from
three aspects: the current and potential demand trend of talents in China; how to become competent MBA students and Mr. Liao"s own views on MBA students’ career development.
Mr. Liao pointed out that there is a broad space for China’s MBA career development. Nowadays, the demand for middle and high management telants surpasses the supply in China.
In the following decades, Chinese enterprises will need large quantity
of management talents. Moreover, the salaries of local business
executives in China grow year by year, which is quite different from that of foreign enterprises.
When talking about how to be a competent MBA student, Mr. Liao stressed
that receiving MBA education is not sufficient for being a competent
one. He pointed out that expectation from enterprises to MBA graduates
is: Experience + Achievements. And he encouraged MBA students to
transfer the knowledge they received to MBA capabilities and then MBA
achievements. Mr. Liao also listed "Top 10 Features Employers Favor the
Most”, and highlighted good communication skills, moral integrity and
good organizational ability as “vital for MBA talents”.
In the third phase of exchange with Mr. Liao, i.e. sharing his
experience of MBA career development, he not only broadened students’
vision with his expertise, but also impressed students with his
charisma. He said we are in a society greatly influenced by
Utilitarianism and fickleness, so we’d better keep a peaceful mind and
live and work happily. He suggested that every MBA student find a good
career development consultant to guide them, and do not push themselves
too hard.
Afterward
in the Q&A phase, students exchanged with Mr. Liao their questions
such as how to start businesses of their own, how to handle business
confidence crisis etc., and he answered them patiently one by one.
