On August 27th, 2016, the first day of the freshman in the university, the MBA Center of the School of Business organized an exciting marketing competition for MBA freshmen on the both the North and South campus.

The annual MBA Marketing Competition of freshmen was part of the entrance education for MBA freshmen of the School of Business. The activity provided a platform integrating planning and implementation, development, trade for MBA freshmen and promoted the SMILE Value of Guangwai MBA Center as well as enhanced the sense of social responsibility and the organizing ability of the students. All profits produced in the competition would be deposited into the SMILE Public Fund as a back-up fund for public activities in the future.

The marketing competition simulated the real business behavior, which went through a series of processes including marketing program preparation, site bidding, site layout, commodity invoicing, profit clearing and summary of activities with innovative mobile internet thinking and marketing method such as new media warm-up and enterprise linkage promotion before the competition. All the products shined in their own way and each group also used all kinds of marketing tricks. Some were favored by the customers with home delivery services, while others attracted the consumers with preferential prices and gifts. Finally, the fifth group won the first prize by corporate sponsors with the Internet thinking of winning profits by providing trading platform for the seller and buyer.

The marketing competition of this year had made new breakthroughs whether in terms of size, turnover or profits. The North and South Campus had six booths in each, and the competition site on South Campus was located at the main road on the east side of the Wencai Building while the North Campus one was located at the main road on the west side of Xiangsi River. The total turnover was 225,428 RMB, with a total profit of 590,574 RMB, both surpassing the previous years. The profits of the competition would all be deposited in the SMILE Public Fund to support the public welfare activities, which demonstrated the Social Responsibility in the SMILE Value.

The competition was different from the extracurricular activities of most universities students which emphasized more on theory than practice. The competition was set in the real social environment and led the students to walk out of books while enter the society and face the reality. The aim of this competition was that students could start from the basics and gradually accumulate social experience through means of marketing planning based on their professional marketing knowledge and eventually improved their comprehensive qualities.
