Volunteering Tour of GDUFS MBA International Students to Support Summer Camp for China-Foreign Exchanges

In yearly summer or winter vacation, some children of migrant workers will come to stay in cities. However, as their parents are often occupied by work, these children are left unaccompanied again. In order to take care of these children, the Social Service Center for People’s Benefit organized 2016 “Jinyan School”Summer Camp for China-Foreign Exchanges from August 19th to 21th The activity was aimed to help the children know more about cities and grow up happily.

International MBA students from the School of Business of GDUFS attended the Summer Camp and served as voluntary teachers. This provided the campers an opportunity to practice English and learn about foreign cultures.

In the morning of August 19th, the volunteers of the Summer Camp led the students to visit the Huangpu Military Academy. The foreign teachers and students greeted each other and talked about names and hobbies actively.

After the greeting, the foreign teachers joined the group to visit the Huangpu Military Academy. The volunteers gave an account of the historical significance of the Huangpu Military Academy.

In the afternoon of August 19th, the volunteers led the campers to the museum of the Revolution of 1911. In the museum, the campers learned the hand-made skills of small lanterns and improved practical competence.

On August 20th, the campers learned English songs and foreign folk dances under the instruction of the foreign teachers in the classroom in Dasha sub-district office.

In the morning of August 21th, the volunteers led the campers to the Huangpu Park for outdoor activities. The task for each group was to take pictures of different plants and wrote down the names of the plants in both Chinese and English.

On the afternoon of August 21th, the volunteers divided the campers into three groups for games. The games included Pinyin Game, Reorganization of English Phrases and Musical Chair. The foreign teachers and campers cooperated with each other to win scores for their groups.

In the end of the Summer Camp, the representatives of campers, foreign teachers and volunteers shared their gains during these days. All the participants regarded the 2016“Jinyan School”Summer Camp for China-Foreign Exchanges as a happy and meaningful experience because it combined recreation and learning. And the participants have developed sincere friendship.
